We designed the resistance structure for the Campus 6 complex, consisting of 4 class A office buildings, a project that started in 2017. The design of the special foundation works and the monitoring services during the execution were performed by the Popp & Asociatii Geotechnical Engineering team.
The office buildings are developed on a plot with a total area of approximately 21,000 sqm, located near the Polytechnic University of Bucharest.
The constructions were developed in 3 stages:
– Stage 1: Campus building 6.1
– Stage 2: Campus buildings 6.2 and 6.3
– Stage 3: Campus building 6.4
All four buildings have independent structures, separated by joints, including infrastructure. There is a 280 m runway on the roof of the Campus 6.2 and 6.3 buildings.

The Campus 6.1 building has an irregular shape, the structure is placed on two systems of orthogonal axes positioned at distances of 8.10 m, rotated relative to each other with an angle of approx. 34 o. The resistance structure is made of reinforced concrete (reinforced concrete cores, columns, slab-type floors with capitals).
In relation with the current floor, the slab above the ground floor is retracted, resulting in an area that develops on the height of the first two above-ground levels (GF + 1F) and pillars without transverse connections on this height. To reduce the thickness of the perimeter strips, this area of the floor has been post-tensioned. The slab above level 7 has a reduced console area of 1.8 m.
The first level basement is withdrawn from the second level basement on the west side. All the vertical elements of the superstructure are the same in the infrastructure, up to the level of the raft foundation. In order to increase the lateral rigidity of the infrastructure, besides the perimeter walls, additional walls with thicknesses of 30 and 40 cm have been designed.
The entire infrastructure was carried out in a deep general excavation, under the shelter of a screen of pilots on the areas adjacent to the property boundary (south and east sides) and with a slope on the inner sides of the property.

The Campus 6.2 and Campus 6.3 buildings have a relatively regular shape, the structure is placed on two systems of orthogonal axes positioned at distances of 8.10. Both buildings have a reinforced concrete resistance structure.
In order to maintain the minimum thickness of the concrete sections, in the areas with large openings or consoles, the strips were pre-compressed with post-stretched reinforcement. To ensure the taking over of large loads from the terrace level, the floor over the 10th floor was made with perimeter strips with a height of 40 cm, capitals at the inner pillars with a thickness of 40 cm and slabs with a thickness of 20 cm.

The Campus 6.4 building has an irregular shape similar to Campus 6.1, the structure is placed on two systems of orthogonal axes positioned at distances of 8.10 m, rotated relative to each other with an angle of about 34 o. The resistance structure is made of reinforced concrete, having a structural composition similar to that of the other 3 buildings.
