Even though I initially opted for geotechnical engineering out of curiosity, feeling the need to learn more about a field often too little understood by construction engineers, as I began to discover it and realize its amplitude, I decided to channel my professional career towards geotechnical engineering.
I started to work at Popp & Asociații in 2010, while attending university, passing then through all the company’s professional stages: Design Engineer, Project Manager and then Senior Project Manager. Starting with 2018, I became the Technical Director of the Geotechnical Engineering Department, thus managing field investigation activities, (geotechnical studies), geotechnical design and structural monitoring activities.
At the beginning of my career I focused mainly on investigating the foundation lands to support the construction design activity, while elaborating and coordinating the realization of geotechnical studies. I then got involved in the design of special geotechnical works (deep excavations and deep foundations), including the use of advanced calculation methods, but also the implementation of technological solutions, whether established or more recent. Through the acquisition and subsequent use of state-of-the-art equipment for geotechnical and structural monitoring, we also started this activity within Popp & Asociatii, implementing working procedures in order to obtain the most efficient results.
I acknowledge that the appetite for performance along with a desire for continuous personal and professional development has been constantly nurtured within Popp & Asociatii. I have seen the company’s values being thoroughly applied and implemented, often against a market commonly used to adopting values mostly contrary to our own. I have therefore constantly desired to be part of a high-performing team and to contribute to its evolution.
Furthermore, ever since completing my studies, I have been involved in national and international scientific research activities carried out at the highest level, participating in conferences and professional development courses as well as in international standardization activities. I am glad that I can apply and promote the results of performed research within the team I coordinate, as well as in the engineering community in which I work.
I believe that it is extremely important for each of us to find ourselves in our work environment, to know and always follow our possibilities for evolution. Only in such a manner can we be satisfied with our work and perform. To achieve this, however, we must sometimes stop for at least a few minutes of our daily work to analyze whether we follow the desired career path. Thus, I can say that I managed to maintain the professional path I set out to do.
