Our team provided technical expertise services, structural design, geotechnical study and tests of construction materials for the repartitioning of the existing building (SB+GF+2F) and the extension of the section with a new one (B+GF+entresol+3F), partly through raising the existing amphitheater building and strengthening it.
The proposed intervention solution resulted from the requirements to increase the unfolded area of the amphitheater building and partially change the purpose of the building, adding the neonatal intensive care unit.
A metal structure with composite floors with secondary beams was chosen. To take over the horizontal loads due to the seismic action, a system of buckling restrained braces (BRB) was chosen.
