The feasibility study was developed by the association Popp & Asociații, SQUARE BAU and Professional Tech Construct Design.
The hospital aims to be a medical unit of excellence in the field of oncology, that offers medical services at the highest level, with specialized medical staff and state-of-the-art equipment, as well as a research activity, innovation, and training in the field.
On the land of the future oncology institute there is an unfinished building, which was originally intended as Timișoara Municipal Hospital and is currently decommissioned.
Taking this aspect into account, the project involves the consolidation, partial demolition, and expansion of the existing building, as well as the construction of 9 new buildings, resulting in a complex that will house the Timișoara Regional Oncology Institute.
As a general designer, our team coordinated the entire project, i.e. all the specialties involved in the project.
The feasibility analysis includes the studies: geotechnical, topographical, technical expertise.
The hospital will have 395 beds for multiple days hospitalization, 57 beds for one day stay, 57 for day surgery, 20 for intensive care, and 10 in the Center for bone marrow transplant and stem cell apheresis, 529 beds in total.
The hospital will include:
For the existing structure on the site, consolidation, partial demolitions, and refurbishment works are proposed in order to be integrated in the new hospital complex.
The strengthening solution chosen for the existing building involves the introduction of a new structural system to absorb the lateral forces, namely the introduction of a structural system consisting of reinforced concrete walls arranged in the two main directions of the building.
The new buildings join the existing structure with structural joints.
The structural system for the new buildings is designed with two-way reinforced concrete columns and walls and thick slab floors. The structure is founded on a general 80cm thick.
385 is the total number of parking spaces provided: 146 at ground level and 239 in the underground parking lot.
The building is designed to meet the nZEB 20% building standard (nearly zero energy building) in accordance with the current legislation.
