BIM (Building Information Modeling) can be considered as a significant transition in the practice of design. Unlike CADD (Computer-Aided Design and Drafting), which essentially only automates the traditional aspects of drawing production, BIM is a fundamental change. By partially automating the generation of building models at the level of execution details, BIM redistributes the allocation of effort, focusing on conceptual design. Other direct benefits include easier methods that ensure consistency in plans and reports, automating the verification of spatial interference between systems, BIM being a solid basis for interconnecting analysis / simulation / cost applications and enriching visualization and communication at all scales and phases of the project.
