Between the 7th and the 10th of June, our Geotechnical Engineering team participated in the 7th Danube – European Conference on Geotechnical Engineering, held under the theme: European Geotechnical Engineering – Unity and diversity.
Organised in Bucharest, the conference was attended by 7 international keynote speakers and 4 other invited speakers from Romania and abroad.
30 from Europe, had the opportunity to learn more about the practices applied in each country, to discuss the latest developments and how regulatory changes influence the future of geotechnical engineering.
Our colleagues shared their experience in presentations during the plenary sessions and panel discussions.
An exhibition was also organised during the conference where participating companies from Romania and abroad could present their products, services and works in the field of geotechnical engineering.
The last day of the conference was dedicated to technical visits, with those interested having the opportunity to visit the suspended bridge over the Danube in Brăila (to be inaugurated at the end of June) or 2 construction sites in Bucharest (a very deep 7-storey underground excavation for the extension of a shopping centre in Bucharest and a foundation on threaded piles for a residential complex).
The conference was organised by the Romanian Society for Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering (SRGF) and the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE), together with the Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest, the Technical University “Gheorghe Asachi” Iasi, the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca and the Polytechnic University of Timișoara.
